Senior DevOps Engineer | Multi-Cloud Financial Trading | Remote Worldwide

Remotely
Full-time

We're seeking an exceptional DevOps Engineer to join our established team developing a sophisticated cloud-based platform in the financial trading sector. You'll design, implement, and maintain resilient multi-cloud infrastructure leveraging AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure to support mission-critical trading applications. Your expertise will directly influence system reliability, scalability, and security for financial platforms processing millions of transactions daily with stringent performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Architect and deploy highly available, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure supporting real-time trading platforms with sub-millisecond latency requirements.

- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using modern tools like Terraform 1.7+, CloudFormation, or Pulumi across multiple cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).

- Establish and refine CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing, building, and deployment of microservices architecture in financial environments.

- Implement advanced containerization strategies using Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes (v1.29+) for efficient application deployment and scaling.

- Configure comprehensive monitoring systems utilizing Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack to ensure 99.99% uptime for business-critical financial systems.

- Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance, particularly focused on ultra-low-latency requirements essential for competitive trading systems.

- Execute robust security protocols and compliance measures mandated in the financial sector (SOC2, PCI DSS, GDPR).

Required Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field. Mathematics degree strongly preferred due to algorithmic trading requirements.

- 5+ years of professional DevOps experience, with minimum 3 years working specifically on real-time trading applications or financial platforms.

- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, and Azure, with current professional certifications preferred (AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Solutions Architect).

- Extensive experience with infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, or equivalent IaC tools for multi-cloud environments.

- Advanced knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and container registry systems for financial workloads.

- Proven track record implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using enterprise tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.

- Strong scripting capabilities in Python 3.11+, Bash, or similar languages for system automation and infrastructure management.

- Expertise with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic for comprehensive system monitoring.

- Deep understanding of networking architecture, VPCs, security groups, and regulatory compliance requirements specific to financial services.

- Working knowledge of both relational databases (PostgreSQL 15+, MySQL 8+) and NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).

Nice to Have:

- Experience with high-frequency trading (HFT) infrastructure or ultra-low latency systems delivering response times below 50ms.

- Knowledge of financial market data systems and trading protocols like FIX, SWIFT, or proprietary messaging formats.

- Hands-on experience with service mesh technologies like Istio 1.20+ or Linkerd for sophisticated microservices management.

- Proficiency with serverless architectures leveraging AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, or Azure Functions for event-driven processing.

- Implementation experience with GitOps workflows using ArgoCD, Flux, or similar tools for declarative Kubernetes deployments.

- Applied knowledge of chaos engineering principles using tools such as Chaos Monkey, Gremlin, or Litmus for resilience testing.

- Advanced implementation of HashiCorp suite (Vault for secrets management, Consul for service discovery, Nomad for orchestration).

- Relevant cloud security certifications (CCSP, CISSP) and hands-on experience with DevSecOps practices and tools.

- Production experience with event-driven architectures and enterprise message queuing systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.

- Demonstrated compliance framework implementation for financial services (SOC 2, PCI DSS, GDPR, MiFID II).
