Specialization: Tech Lead, Architect
I believe that being well informed and constantly aware is key in achieving engineering goals in a sustainable, and most efficient way. With well over a decade in software development, through active and continuous learning, I have made a career as Tech Lead. I have gained knowledge and experience in many widely used web technologies, both front-end and back-end, as well as with several different frameworks. Unsurprisingly, sharing that valuable knowledge is also my passion, as I teach PHP, JavaScript, and software architecture online and in person. I am an advocate of compatibility and standardisation. By using effective methodologies and tried principles everywhere, I achieve a level of simplicity that brings incredible agility to my projects. I excel at creating architecturally sound, re-usable, and robust solutions that are all the while easy to maintain and improve - such as software products, or re-usable modules and libraries. In the Dhii org I, together with other contributors, create missing though much needed standards and compliant implementations applicable to PHP in general. The mission of the WP-OOP org is to address similar concerns in WordPress. In my current position, my main responsibility is to determine and ensure a high standard of software solutions and compatibility across several projects; most of those are commercial WordPress plugins, and some are internal tools. I create detailed specifications and MVP roadmaps for new projects, determine the standards and tools to use, and estimate the amount of effort required for completion. Here, I focus on fast prototyping, while ensuring long term maintainability and smooth growth of the software. All my solutions are architected with a high degree of modularity and potential for sustainable growth. At the same time, I am involved in multiple projects with different leads, mentoring the developers involved, guiding and contributing ideas for sustainable solutions, and reviewing code - all in an effort to streamline development and on/off-boarding, and to promote compatibility between components in various projects. Finally, I take part in company-wide discussions on several topics centered around standardization in the whole organization. My open-source modularity standard, while already being used in all new projects of my team, was the first and remains one of the top candidates for becoming a standard across all teams in our organization. It provides unparalleled flexibility at the same time as reliability, and would ensure a high degree of modularity and re-use both in our company and in 3rd-party software projects, paving a way for open-source collaboration.
