Mohammad Abu Khashabeh

Specialization: Lead Python Developer
— Lead Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience building backend systems in Python and Django, mostly in fintech and SaaS. — I currently lead a backend team on a large-scale financial SaaS platform while staying hands-on in the code. — My core stack is Python, Django/DRF, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Celery, with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD on GitHub Actions. — I design REST APIs and database schemas, optimize queries, plan sprints with product teams, and set coding standards and review practices as my company’s Python Chapter Lead. — I also maintain open-source Django packages on PyPI. — I’ve worked remotely with international teams for years, so I’m comfortable with async communication and clear written updates. — I’m based in Amman, Jordan (UTC+3), and I can adjust my working hours to the team’s needs: full overlap with European hours, and a few hours of daily overlap with US time zones when required.

Work experience

Senior Python Developer
01.2025 - 08.2025 |Echo Technology
Python, Flask, CKAN, Celery, Redis, PostgreSQL, Solr
● Built Python web applications (Flask, CKAN) with custom extensions; Celery/Redis background pipelines; Solr search and indexing. ● Designed and optimized PostgreSQL schemas with SQLAlchemy, including query tuning, indexing, and caching for performance.
Lead Software Engineer
since 04.2024 - Till the present day |Sitech
Python, Django, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Redis
● Architect and optimize backend systems with Python, Django/DRF, and PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and caching. ● Led the evolution of a tightly coupled Django monolith into independent services (strangler pattern), with FastAPI for selected decoupled services and exposure to NestJS for others, rolled out incrementally with no downtime. ● Plan and run Agile sprints with product management: turn business requirements into technical specifications, estimate timelines, and distribute tasks. ● Design RESTful APIs and integrations with partner and third-party systems, built for idempotency, retries, and data consistency. ● Own production health: observability with Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, and ELK, plus incident response and root-cause fixes; run services on Docker and Kubernetes. ● As Python Chapter Lead, set coding standards, testing practices, and CI/CD quality gates across teams, and built a shared delivery pipeline (packaged as a Claude Code plugin) adopted by 3 teams. ● Mentor engineers from junior to senior, support hiring and onboarding, and led the team's AI adoption plan.
Senior Software Engineer (Python)
04.2022 - 04.2024 |Sitech
Python, Django REST Framework, Celery, MySQL, Kubernetes
● Designed and shipped Django REST Framework APIs and Celery-based background services backed by MySQL, deployed as containers on Kubernetes. ● Owned deployments and releases, led code reviews and mentoring, and resolved critical production issues across services.
Software Engineer / Intermediate Engineer
07.2019 - 04.2022 |Sitech
Python, Django
● Delivered backend and full-stack features across Python/Django services and front-end components.
Senior Back End Developer (Python)
05.2024 - 09.2024 |CoinMENA
Python, Starlette, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery
● Revamped high-throughput Python APIs (Starlette) for a crypto exchange; Redis/Celery for high-concurrency background work. ● Ran zero-downtime data migrations between legacy and new PostgreSQL systems with strict data-integrity guarantees; cut API response times and fixed production bottlenecks.
Back End Developer (Python)
03.2021 - 10.2021 |CoinMENA
Python, Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, Celery, Redis, Docker
● Built REST APIs and back-end services for a crypto exchange in Django REST Framework on a 10-engineer team, with strict attention to security and data protection. ● Designed PostgreSQL schemas; implemented Celery/Redis background jobs and caching; containerized services with Docker and Docker Compose.
Software Developer
03.2019 - 05.2019 |ZagTrader
PHP
● Full-stack development: PHP back-end APIs and responsive UIs.
