Director of Research & Development (R&D). Led the development of platform architecture for Ericsson’s new Global CDN product in collaboration with Ericsson’s partners. Managed the HTTP RFC compliance effort. Interacted with large customers to determine platform needs and influence product roadmap. Partnered with Strategic Product Management team to define upcoming product features. • Served as Ericsson’s representative on the Streaming Video Alliance, maintaining Ericsson’s position as a leader in the industry. • Championed the architecture, development, and promotion of the advanced CDN customization feature, improving the user experience, allowing for more efficient customization, and boosting the competitive position of the solution. • Developed deployment architecture for large Asian operator customers, creating system blueprints and determining capacity needs.

Spearheaded the performance and network optimization efforts for the core development team in China. Managed visiting members of the Chinese engineering team working on new projects in the California office. • Conceived, designed, and implemented the WAN Optimization technique and supervised research of the technique by a Chinese university (BUPT), creating performance improvements and reducing traffic and bandwidth costs. Successfully co-authored and received a patent for this technique. • Designed and led the development of a Mobile Optimization Platform, executed by a distributed engineering team in the US, China, and Northern Ireland. Led the architecture, design and development of Xambala’s proprietary ultra-low-latency high-frequency trading platform, including network packet acquisition and processing on multiple CPU cores, for daily colocation data acquisition and analysis. Provided management and technical leadership for the development team in Chennai, India. Evaluated low-latency hardware network solutions from technology partners and participated in the joint development of high-frequency trading solutions with trading partners. • Designed and developed Xambala’s proprietary network packet capture and analysis system, allowing real-time visualization of through-the-device and exchange latencies on the live Nasdaq colocation system.

Collaborated with several groups across several Cisco business units to deliver new technologies on other Cisco platforms. • Successfully architected, led the development of, and delivered multiple releases of industry-leading Layer 7 SSL VPN implementation for Cisco ASA platform, allowing Cisco ASA to enter the SSL VPN market and become number 2 in shipped licenses in the SSL VPN gateway industry. • Contributed to the Ironport analysis team, developing distributed framework for analyzing Web traffic patterns reported by the Ironport devices in the field.
